Child ABA Therapy

At ABA Centers of Maryland, we offer ABA therapy for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) between the ages of 2 and 12. Our programs support children across the spectrum by meeting them at their current developmental level and helping them strengthen skills through structured, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning.

We understand that no two children experience autism in the same way. Each child brings unique strengths, interests, and challenges, which is why our child ABA therapy programs are fully individualized and built around the needs of the child and the family.

Child ABA Therapy

An Individualized Approach to Child ABA Therapy

Rather than following rigid or generic programs, our approach focuses on flexibility and personalization. Therapy aims to support learning while respecting each child’s personality, pace, and natural curiosity.

Our Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) use ongoing data collection and clinical observation to design and adjust treatment plans over time. Therapy intensity varies based on individual needs and may range from 20 to 40 hours per week, depending on goals and developmental priorities.

Experienced ABA Professionals Supporting Your Child

A BCBA clinically supervises each child’s ABA therapy program, which is implemented by trained Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) who work directly with your child during sessions. All clinicians are credentialed through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) and receive ongoing training to ensure ethical, high-quality care.

For younger children, including toddlers and pre-kindergarten-aged clients, we may provide ABA therapy through extended or full-day programs. These programs help build school readiness skills while supporting foundational developmental milestones.

The Child ABA Therapy Journey

Child ABA therapy begins with a comprehensive evaluation conducted by a BCBA. During this assessment, the clinician observes behavior patterns, identifies strengths, and works with families to understand priorities, routines, and long-term goals.

Using this information, the BCBA develops a customized ABA treatment to support communication, independence, and overall quality of life. Throughout therapy, therapists continuously measure progress and adjust goals as the child grows. Families remain active participants in the process, ensuring consistency across environments.

Before beginning ABA therapy, make sure your child has a formal autism diagnosis. If you need help with this step, call us at (844) 449-0939 or click here.

Positive Reinforcement in Child ABA Therapy

Positive reinforcement is a core principle of ABA therapy. When children demonstrate positive behaviors and receive meaningful reinforcement, those behaviors are more likely to continue.

Reinforcement is individualized and may include:

Verbal praise

Preferred toys or books

Screen time or games

Access to favorite activities or outdoor play

Over time, children learn to replace challenging behaviors with functional skills that support long-term success.
